The story
Second time lucky! A successful ascent of the Aletschhorn by its SW ridge (my first 4000er in the Bernese Oberland), a superb route mixing skiing and a mixed snow/rock ridge. Very changeable weather throughout the day: sleet, fog, wind, ending in brilliant sunshine! This summit, one of the most remote in all of Switzerland, has to be earned: the approach to the Oberaletschhütte the day before is endless, and once the summit is conquered, the return to civilisation takes as long as the way in.
Well done, Timothée, for hauling yourself up there despite the acclimatisation difficulties, and thank you for your top-quality company! See you soon on a multi-pitch route, where we'll swap roles!
